Seafood restaurant Hammocks Trading Company closes Sunday, July 31, after a decade on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.

Jason Sheetz and chef William Sigley opened Hammocks in 2012, describing the restaurant’s menu as “Southern coastal seafood meets Baja, California.” Hammocks became known for its oysters and clams served both baked and on the half shell, as well as dishes like shrimp and grits, ceviche, fried catfish, and grilled lobster tail with sea scallops and jumbo Gulf shrimp.

Sheetz and Sigley also own tapas restaurant Under the Cork Tree in Sandy Springs and steakhouse Prime 120 in Woodstock. [IG]

The Whataburger invasion continues in Georgia

Two more locations of the Texas-based fast food chain are being added to the list of restaurants planned for Georgia, according to Tomorrow’s News Today. New restaurants are now in the works for the cities of Snellville and Winder, east of Atlanta. Earlier this year, Whataburger announced its expansion into Georgia and the intended opening of eight new restaurants in the state over the next two years. This includes locations opening in Kennesaw and Woodstock in 2022, with restaurants opening in Cumming and Buford in 2023. A Whataburger is already open in Thomasville near the Georgia-Florida state line. [ToNT]

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken should open soon on Atlanta’s west side

After pandemic-related delays, Hattie B’s on the corner of 10th Street and Howell Mill Road should finally open this summer. Construction on the building is nearing completion and a hiring sign is out front. The west side Atlanta location will become Hattie B’s largest restaurant yet, seating up to 200 people between the dining room and patio. Hattie B’s opened its first location in Atlanta four years ago on Moreland Avenue in Little Five Points. [IG]

The Andrews Square complex is getting a new restaurant

Parched Hospitality Group (Hole in the Wall, The Sentry, Daintree, Isla, and Ghost Burger) is opening Isla and Co. at the Andrews Square complex on East Andrews Drive in Buckhead later this summer, What Now Atlanta reports. This is the first restaurant for the group to open in Atlanta, which includes restaurants in New York, Connecticut, and Florida. Isla and Co. centers on Australian-style coffee and dishes, drawing inspiration from countries in Europe and Southeast Asia. [WNA]
